Several months ago the Palm Tree Garden voted on the seven texts most essential to their understanding of Gnosticism. They are:

  • The Gospel of Thomas
  • The Gospel of Philip
  • The Gospel of Truth
  • The Exegesis on the Soul
  • The Apocryphon of John
  • The Hymn of the Pearl
  • The Treatise on the Resurrection

I’m going to start putting together some hand-bound editions of the PTG Canon, coptic binding of course. Who wants one? Email me (anthonypjs |at| gmail |dot| com) your snail mail and it you can be patient I’ll send you some. Each one will be unique, so if you want something specific on the cover (color, image, so on) I will take all reasonable requests.

If I don’t email you back with a confirmation then don’t assume that I got your request. At this point I don’t want to charge anything for them, but donations to a starving artist are, of course, always welcome.

It’s a question I’ve heard a lot, and the variety of answers is staggering. A word that gets thrown around a lot in the discussion of Gnostic proactivity is “proselytization” which is a fancy term that means “to try convert people.” Should a Gnostic tradition try to convert people?
